Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love! — Sitting Bull
Valentine’s Day may be just around the corner, but so is Spring! Spring is the season of new beginnings: fresh buds bloom, animals awaken, and the earth stirs to life again. Farmers and gardeners plant their seeds and temperatures slowly rise. It’s the perfect time to refresh the old. Enter: the classic Pink Lady Cocktail!
This Pink Lady Cocktail has a sweet, pastel pink color and exudes the old-school elegance of the South. Think Charleston with its lovely architecture and the graciousness of the people; the brightly colored homes on Rainbow Row and the sweet oysters served at The Darling Oyster Bar. I was swept off my feet the first time I visited this beautiful city with its walled, moss-covered gardens full of languid blush roses, trickling fountains, and Sullivan’s Island.
In the spirit of Spring and the fast-approaching holiday, I wanted to share this delicious cocktail that might have been served during the Gatsby Era. This cocktail looks demure, but don’t be fooled…back in the Roaring Twenties, the main ingredient was bathtub gin!
