We bought a house!!! Finally! We’ve been searching for a home to call our own for over a year now, and finally settled in northern Charlotte. The property is a new construction, but we know we want to make some updates to the space to reflect our lifestyle and passions, and make it feel bright, cozy, and inviting. We’re beyond excited to share more of our home design plans with you!
Entry Way
Our first priority is putting the final touches downstairs. First up is the entry way: to make the space feel welcoming and bright, we will be painting most of the first floor in a light, airy color (Alabaster – Sherwin Williams). We’ll add in an entry console, runner, pendant light, and mirror, with touches of greenery for a calming, welcoming space.
Powder Room
We will be updating the powder room and adding a touch of color with this classic striped wallpaper and eventually, a custom vanity. A leather-trimmed mirror and custom artwork will pull the space together.
Kitchen and Dining
We won’t be making any changes to the current kitchen design yet, although eventually, we’d like to update the backsplash as we were not able to make any of the design decisions with this construction. Fortunately, we like the majority of the colors they’ve chosen for the flooring and the cabinets, and will work with what we’ve got. We’re just grateful for our very own space! We will be updating the kitchen cabinet hardware from builder-grade chrome to these satin champagne pulls, updating the faucet, and changing the island pendant lights.
In the dining room right off of the kitchen, we purchased this gorgeous reclaimed barn wood dining table. The table seats 8, and has a hidden leaf that extends to seat up to 10. We chose these simple white wooden chairs for the sides, and these upholstered chairs for the heads of the table. This traditional chandelier and area rug will complete the look.
Living Room
We’re most excited to update the living room! We’re having custom built-ins and a fireplace added by the end of September, which will add in a ton of storage and really pull the space together. We replaced our current couch with a durable, custom-upholstered sectional and an accent chair that can handle all of our pets. Shades of green and ivory will brighten up the space and make for a cozy, welcoming living room.
We are being very thoughtful about each space, taking time to make sure we do things right and make design decisions we are sure of. But we’re so excited and could not be happier to call this place home. Be sure to follow along on my Instagram for inspiration and behind the scenes.
I can't wait to hear from you!
