Fashion may be the last thing on your mind at the moment. But, did you know that an outfit has the power to actually change your mood? Its been shown time and time again that dressing up or wearing clothing that makes you feel good has the power to lift your spirits, motivate you, and even change your mindset. Like how a cute new workout set can motivate you to go to the gym, dressing well for work plays an important role in the way you present yourself physically and emotionally.
While many of us are still working from home, returning to the office is inevitable and I don’t know about you, but I’ve been home for so long I need some fresh new ideas! I’ve rounded up some of my office-wear staples and ways you can revamp them.
The Power Suit
Ahh, the power suit. This outfit is a statement-maker for sure. Gone are the days of dull, black suits and lifeless white button-downs. Try mixing and matching bold or subtle patterns, bright colors and neutrals, or consider opting for the ever-classic, head-to-toe monochrome suit (my favorite).
The Skirt
There is something undeniably sexy about a pencil skirt and a fitted button down; it’s a classic for a reason! But don’t limit yourself. Depending on your office culture, consider opting for a simple, patterned midi skirt, a flowy maxi skirt, or a lacy pencil skirt. Pair them with a blazer for a more professional look, a cardigan or sweater, or a blouse. Skirts and dresses are my go-to in the warmer months, especially because my office has outdoor space that I love to work in.
The Blazer
The classic blazer has been updated to look more modern. Stick with a classic silhouette in a neutral color, try a boyfriend fit for a more relaxed look, or grab a leather blazer to make a bold statement. Whichever you choose, the blazer is a great addition to your work wardrobe and matches with everything, creating endless options.
The Shoe
No outfit is complete without the perfect shoes! I prefer to be in flats or low heels at the office, and will sometimes reach for dressy sandals when the temps begin to rise. Shoes (and anything that separates you from the ground) should be an investment, so look for beautiful, classic pieces that you can mix and match with any outfit. A bit of a splurge, my Tory Burch Minnie Travel Ballet flats are my favorite shoe and I own them in multiple colors; I highly recommend them!
Accessories
From jewelry to bags to glasses from eyeglasses.com, accessories can make or break your look. I carry the same, neutral toned bag to work everyday, and choose simple gold and silver jewelry to compliment my outfit.
Dress up a simple outfit with statement earrings, or keep the accessories light when dressing bold. Less is always more!
