Mad About Plaid + Apple Picking at Tougas Farm

D and I spent the whole day at Tougas Farm picking apples, drinking cider, and eating apple cider donuts. The weather was beautiful, it wasn’t crowded, and it was an overall perfect day. We finished up our day picking out pumpkins for our front porch from a little stand down the road, and stopped at the market to pick up these beautiful flowers. The plaid poncho I am wearing is from Nordstrom, and it’s only $39! It’s a one size fits all and  found it a little big on me, but it’s super comfy and goes with anything. Right now it only comes in the white and black one that I am wearing, but hopefully they’ll stock other colors soon! As always, you can shop my look, now with our NEW link at the top of the page where it says ‘Shop my looks.’

Anyone have plans for this weekend?

Real Talk & Instagram Roundup

Guys, it’s been waayyyy too long, and I’m so sorry I haven’t checked in in a while! Things have been really crazy for me and I took a temporary hiatus from blogging to just de-stress and find my way again.

Real talk: I have been feeling really down for a long time now, and finally sought advice for  how I was feeling. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression (something I have struggled with for a very long time but never told anyone) and no, I’m not ashamed to admit this. Lately, it’s been more of a struggle to hide this part of me, as something recently triggered those feelings again. Between healing from an incident from my past and my struggles to choose my calling now, I needed some time to just find my inner peace and search for answers.

Some people find what they want to do in life comes easily to them; I know what I want to do, but at this point am unable. It’s so hard to find a balance between being happy and doing something because I have to, and I’ve been feeling very lost with my decision making. I turned to someone I trust for guidance and am working with a few people to get myself on track to where I want to be: I’m very excited and hopeful! I’m crossing my fingers these new changes in my life will help me to keep progressing to where I wish to be, and will keep working hard and dreaming big in the meantime.

As a result of being preoccupied with everything, I haven’t been able to devote much time to blogging and creating content for you, my amazing readers. Without you guys and your support, I would be completely lost. I can’t thank you all enough for sharing this journey with me. I have shared some of my most recent posts from Instagram below. As always, links to shop items are at the end!

So happy it feels like fall! I wish I could say this is my first PSL of the season, but it’s definitely not. Please excuse my windswept hair, D wouldn’t let me stop to fix it! Wore this look to explore downtown Portland, ME. We went up for the weekend to celebrate a wedding, and had a fun time exploring this charming seaside town!

I am so in love with these gorgeous, embroidered smoking flats! Perfect jewel tones for fall, and suuuper comy!

Clearly I’m in love with this simple grey sweater, because I’ve worn it two days in a row! This is such an easy breezy fall uniform. Cotton leggings, a cozy sweater, flats, and cute accessories make for an easy outfit for every day wear (or coffee runs!)

Okay, different grey sweater, I promise!! This is actually a short sleeve sweater tee, and it is one of the comfiest items of clothing that I own. Best part, it’s only $13! Such a steal! This dainty necklace can easily dress up your outfit, or be layered with other necklaces for a more unique look.

Been really enjoying the weekend getaways when I can, and planning new places to travel! Spent a couple days at my best friend’s beautiful lake home, and the next two pictures are housewarming gifts I made for a different friend to celebrate her first home!

Has anyone been up to anything interesting lately? I’d love to hear about it!

Wedding Photos from the Falls

Our wedding photos came in! I’m so excited to share them so that my friends, family, and you beautiful readers can see them. We had an amazing time in Seattle, and will be sharing a travel guide soon, for those of you that have asked. Our reception is this Saturday, so we will be sharing pictures from that as well.

Body Confidence- Style Bloggers

I wanted to share with you a few photos of some of the incredible, talented, intelligent women that I have met and become friends with during my journey as a style blogger. As you may now be aware, I have started a campaign to teach women to love their bodies, and dress themselves in a way that makes them feel confident and beautiful. Of course, there is so much more to you than looks, but feeling amazing and exhibiting confidence can also help lift our confidence, and give us the courage to succeed without fear holding us back.

These amazing women come in different shapes and sizes, and we are all connected by at least one thing: our love for style. Please take a look at these incredible ladies and their blogs as they too will be helping me out along the way.

Miriam Elizabeth from Herrendezvous

Karina from Let’s Do Chocolate!

Irina from The Fourteen Carats

Mycaila from Booty and Beauty

Mycaila says: “I think most of us girls struggle with body confidence and body image, which it shouldn’t be that way because we’re all beautiful in our own ways. I think we all try and compare ourselves to other people who we think might look great to us, and strive to be like them, when in actual fact, we could actually be those exact people that maybe someone else looks up to in the same way. With being almost 8 months pregnant, I am getting used to my bigger shape. My whole body is expanding and growing for my baby, but I’m learning everyday to accept the changes that are happening and though I might have gone up a few sizes in clothing, I am learning to love my new shape more and more every day.”

I hope these women help to inspire you on your journey with me to learn and love yourself. Please check back daily for updates, and if you would like to participate, send your story and a photo of yourself in an outfit that makes you feel beautiful and confident to

My Absolute Wardrobe Essentials

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! I know I did!

As I mentioned in my Designer vs. Dupes post, I’m all about classic pieces and building a timeless wardrobe. I also happen to love a lot of the trending styles (bell sleeves!) and I always look for ways to incorporate those into my style. That being said, I’ve compiled a list of my absolute wardrobe essentials, items I always keep on hand. These are also great pieces that I believe every woman should own, and they are also great starter pieces for anyone looking to revamp their style.

White Jeans (and regular)

White jeans literally go with everything, and I love them. I wear mine very often, and own several pairs. The key to these is to find a pair that is a good, thick knit so they are not see through, as many tend to be. I find that I tend to lean more towards the white twill jeans, which are a softer texture than traditional jeans but still the same look. This material does not show all the lumps and bumps that some other kinds may, but be sure to still wear lighter colored undergarments just in case! Really, the only downside to white jeans is that, obviously, they’re white, so they do stain easily. There are several stain resistant jeans on the market and while I’ve never tried them, I’ve heard great things. I also lumped normal jeans into this category as they are virtually the same thing and go with all kinds of tops.

Black leggings

It may be habit from my college days, but if I’m not wearing jeans, I’m living in leggings. I know I know, leggings are NOT pants. But come on, some of us need that! Sometimes I just don’t want to have to squeeze myself into cute jeans or wear pants with any zippers; sometimes, I just want to throw them on and go, and that’s what black leggings are perfect for, without having to go out in sweatpants (or pajamas!) They can be worn alone as pants with the right tops, under an oversized sweater, and so much more, but they are a great basic staple to have.

Shop Leggings:

White Layering Tanks

I can’t even begin to tell you how many white tank tops I own. It’s actually semi-embarrassing (same with cardigans) but these little wonders go with so much. There’s rarely a day that goes by that I’m not sporting a white tank, whether its on its own, under an open-front cardigan, or as a layering piece under a top or sweater.

Shop White Layering Tanks:

Nordstrom  Banana Republic   J. Crew  Neiman Marcus

Cozy Cardigan

Same as with the tank tops, I’ve got way too many cardigans to count. These are another perfect layering piece, and there are so many different styles to choose from. I mostly own oversized cardigans with open fronts, or slim fitting button downs. These can be worn over a tank top, another shirt of your choice, or over a sleeveless or short-sleeve dress.

Shop Cardigans:

Nude Flats

The great thing about nude flats is that they’re so versatile- and the color goes with everything. Of course, if you’re as pale as me, people think when you wear them you’re barefoot, and you have to explain to them that yes, you did in fact remember to wear shoes to work, and yes, you are aware that they are the same color as your skin. LOL. But aside from that, these shoes are a good staple to have. I usually pair them with jeans, but they can also be worn with leggings, shorts, skirts, and dresses. See? Versatile!

Shop Nude Flats:

Neiman Marcus   Kate Spade  DSW   Nordstrom

Ahh, the blazer. Such a timeless article of clothing. You can dress it up or down, wear it over a tank top and jeans for a casual look, or over a dress for more professional attire. Whichever way you chose to wear it, the blazer is a definitive must-have for your closet. I own several colors, all pretty basic, so I can mix and match them with anything I choose. For a simple, elegant, but casual look, pair with jeans, a tank top, flats, and accessories of your choice.

Shop Blazers:

blazer1         blazer2         blazer3         blazer4

Nordstrom   Shopbop   Revolve   Forever21

Black Heels

You can never, EVER go wrong with a black heel. Let me repeat that. NEVER, EVER. Why? Because it goes with literally everything. Jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts, shorts: you name it, it goes. I’m pretty sure I own at least four pairs of black heels, in various styles. And guess what? I wear them all the time. If there’s anything on this list that you should absolutely own, it’s a pair of chic black heels. They’ll make any outfit look put together and sophisticated.

Shop Black Heels:

Little Black Dress

And finally, we have the LBD. Arguably the most classic item on this list, every woman needs a little black dress (to go with her chic black heels, of course!) I own several black dresses, and I love them. It’s usually my dress color of choice when going out, as black is known to visually have a slimming effect. It’s also a color that universally everyone looks great in, and doesn’t require much extra effort to look good. You can dress this up or down as well, depending on how you accessorize.

Monday Roundup: High + Low Dupes for Spring

Happy Monday! Every week I’ll be doing a Monday roundup of choice: top 7 must have shoes, favorite bags, and so much more! So there’s something to look forward to 🙂

Spring is definitely bringing some cute trends -like the bell sleeves hailing back to the 70s, blue and white stripes that make you nostalgic for summer, and tasseled earrings. The problem that I find, however, is they often come and go out of style quickly. And while I usually like to be the first to jump on the trend bandwagon, I don’t want to spend a fortune on a particular piece only to toss it next season. I’m very big on classic items, but I will buy trendy pieces for the right price. So, I’ve put together a little list of my designer vs. dupes list on some of the hottest trends for spring 2017!

Are there any particular trends you’ve tried that you love? Let me know in the comments below!

Blush, Nude, and White

Bit of a funny (and embarrassing) story before I share today’s ootd! I was at the market picking up more tulips, and decided to stop at Redbox to get a movie (Those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a little kiosk found inside other stores where you can rent movies or games). Anyways, I happen to still enjoy watching animated films, because I love the nostalgia they provide.

I saw that this Redbox happened to have the movie Storks, which I had been wanting to watch (no shame here!) As I was adding it to checkout, the woman behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked me how old my kids are! For those of you who know me, I don’t have any kids yet. So now I was left having to explain to this woman that the movie was not actually for my children, but for me. She made a face at me, and said “oh…well it’s a pretty good movie. My 3-year old loved it.”

I’m sorry, I happen to still enjoy these movies because I think they’re cute. I never quite grew out of them because I have younger siblings, and watched them all the time.

And yes, I did in fact enjoy the movie!

I’m all about embracing the blush trend this season and I love it. My closet used to be black, blue, or grey and I was so afraid of colors. Now, I’m finally branching out and I think blush is my new fave! I picked up this sweater from H&M the other day, and it pairs perfectly with white jeans and nude flats.

blush1   blush2

I added simple accessories, like diamond earrings and this gold & acrylic watch from Michael Kors.

Close up of this beautiful knit sweater. It’s super soft and kinda silky- I’m obsessed! I’m going back to see what other colors they offer and snatch them up before they sell out. This sweater does run large, so you may need to size down.

My Top 5 Online Clothing Stores

Happy Sunday everyone!

I’ve done quite a bit of online shopping lately, and D has more-than been an enabler (not that I’m complaining!) Part of my Valentine’s Day gift from him this year was a shopping spree at Nordstrom for some new tops that I’ve had my eyes on for quite some time now, and thankfully I grabbed a few of them just in time before they sold out of my size!

I’m going to be totally honest though: online shopping and I have a love/hate relationship. And I know I’m probably not the only one that feels that way! I love how easy it is to access thousands of stores within seconds from the internet, and have the ability to buy things from all over the world. Sometimes, I just don’t feel like trekking to the mall to sort through messy racks or deal with the crowds of people. I prefer to do it at home in my pajamas, or at work on my lunch break.

There’s also times where I’ve seen a product online that I love, and am glad I didn’t buy it until I waited to try it on in person. It doesn’t happen often, but there have been times where I loved a shirt, found it in the mall, and realized how poor quality it really was, or that maybe i didn’t like the feel of that “world’s softest sweater.” And that is the downside to shopping online for me. It’s also the sizing- what might be my size in one top may be completely different in another- and can happen at the same store. One of the shirts I ordered from Nordstrom I was really glad I had read the reviews for; it ended up running two sizes larger than what it said, so I ended up with one top in an XS and the rest in my regular size.

Aside from some of those discrepancies in product (because you will find that almost anywhere) make sure that whatever store you’re ordering from lets you either exchange in person at their location or offers free online returns. More often than not, stores require you to pay for return shipping, and I prefer to save that money for something else. There are several stores I’ve learned to shop from online over others, and I’ve compiled 5 of them here for you to shop and enjoy!

1. Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack

Nordstrom is by far my favorite store to shop at: they have all my favorite brands, and their products range from budget-friendly to downright luxurious and over-the-top expensive. Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, meaning they off a lot of the same products (albeit discontinued or out of season) at up to 70% off the normal price. Although a majority of the products aren’t the same quality, the differences are often minor enough that people can’t tell the difference. High-end designer products often offer the best value, because those designers don’t have a dedicated outlet strategy. I tend to shop the sale and clearance racks at both stores, and only pay full price when I have a gift card or if the item I’m trying to find isn’t on sale. (Or when it’s a Valentine’s Day gift!)

ASOS is a global fashion destination for 20-somethings, as marketed on their website. They sell cutting-edge fashion and offer a wide variety of fashion-related content, making ASOS the hub of a thriving fashion community. They offer many of the same brands as Nordstrom, but is marketed towards a more specific audience rather than Nordstrom’s “encompass all.” The prices at ASOS are very reasonable, always dependent on what you find affordable and what matches your needs. They carry clothes for a variety of styles, and while I do sometimes have to dig for items more my style, the quality to me is always worth it.

3. Lulu’s

I love Lulu’s. They’re one of my go-to sites for super cute sweaters, dresses, and shoes, and they always have good items on sale. You have to be quick though- they sell out fast! They’re especially good for dresses, formal or otherwise, that are under $150 (many are even under $100.)
Shop Lulus and enjoy $15 off + Free Shipping on US orders over $150 – Use promo code ‘take15 at checkout. Click here!

4. Forever21

This is one of the more budget-friendly options on this list. While it technically does allow you to order online and return in store for free, you get a store credit instead of your money back when you shop here. So if you’re like me, and you go here quite a bit, you won’t mind the store credit so much because you know it’ll be used again. Recently, the store has gotten a lot better with its options and quality, but it’s still lower quality than some of the other stores on this list. Most of the clothes I buy from here hold up quite nicely; others have fallen apart within one wash, so it’s really a hit or miss.

Screen Shot 2017-02-19 at 6.59.17 PM.png

5. Bloomingdale’s

Ahh, Bloomingdale’s. I get why you’re so pricey, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it! Out of all the stores on this list, this is the only one I exclusively shop in the sale section. They have so many cute, top designer products and I prefer NOT to pay top-designer price, if I can avoid it! They have so much to choose from and for those who don’t mind the full price tag, they do still have some good seasonal sales. Right now they have 20% off the new spring styles.

Screen Shot 2017-02-19 at 7.13.35 PM.png

Some of the stores I also love to shop at online did not make this list simply for the reasons I have listed above. They either do not offer free return shipping, or do not offer returns in store. H&M is one of my favorite places to shop, but for some reason the last time I went to the store to return a shirt I had ordered online, I was told I couldn’t return online stock in-store. It was a little strange to me, but oh well! I hope you enjoyed my little compilation. If you love to shop online, which stores do you prefer?

Travel Bucket List

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all having an amazing Sunday so far. It’s a little bit grayish and overcast here, and as much as I’d love to go for a walk, I don’t feel like getting caught in the rain!

So today, as I relax on my couch and avoid laundry, I want to share with you my travel bucket list. It is nowhere near a complete compilation of places I’d like to go, only because it’s a project I like to keep working and expanding upon.

As D and I travel to more and more places, I’ll always come back to update this list with new travel ideas or to finally check off a destination (such a good feeling!) I put my top three reasons for each destination under each picture, so be sure to let me know what you think! This is in no particular order, FYI 🙂

1.  Borobudur- the largest Buddhist temple in the world. It would be incredible to be able to visit this feat of architecture and watch the sunrise from the top.

2. The incredible beaches and people. I’ve heard from friends that the locals are very friendly and welcoming to visitors, which is something we look for when traveling. They are very proud of their history, culture and more, and I would love to be able to speak with them about their daily lives (all while lounging on one of those gorgeous beaches!)

3. The wildlife. I’m a HUGE animal lover, and would love to visit some of the sanctuaries to see and help care for some of the animals, like orangutans, tigers, and more. This also applies to Thailand as well (see below).

1. The beautiful temples and gorgeous landscape. I would love to explore the jungles, the national park, and the ruins of Jakarta.

2. The incredible, authentic Thai food

3. It’s a super affordable country to visit if you’re on a budget and want to explore some of the Asian countries.

1.  Rome. I want to visit the city so badly; the beautiful mix of modern architecture and historical ruins puts it high on my list. History means a lot to us, and getting the chance to walk where so many famous historical figures have walked before would be an unbelievable experience.

2. The food. I don’t think I need to expand on this further, haha!

3. The Almafi Coast + Tuscany. From the rolling, picture perfect hills in Tuscany to the colorful coast, these are two of my must-visits in Italy.

1. The food. (I think I see a recurring theme here, haha)

2. The nightlife experience in another country. Greeks love to party, and when you’re on the islands you’re never far from a beach bar or nightclubs.

3. The views + the history. I want to see the gorgeous houses, the flowers, the coast, everything. And there are a lot of historical properties in Greece that I would love to visit. I adore Greek mythology and would love to immerse myself in it first hand.

1. My top reason for visiting France is because of my heritage

2. The food, specifically the macarons, fresh baguettes, and the hot chocolate at Angelina’s.

3. The city of Paris. From the Eiffel Tower to the lock bridge, the Louvre to the Arc de Triomphe, there are so many museums and monuments that we are dying to see. Lucky for us, we get to cross this off the list come July! And side note, I desperately want to visit Disneyland Paris, because I am clearly a child 😉

1. The breathtaking architecture. Romanesque chapels, Gothic cathedrals, Baroque palaces, gardens, and unique Cubist architecture make it a place with no parallel in the world.

2. The music; found everywhere, it can satisfy lovers of classical, rock, pop, or any other genre.

3. The Charles Bridge. It’s a 1700 foot long bridge constructed medieval style. During the day, it’s always crowded with vendors, street artists, musicians, and entertainers.

1. The extreme environment variation. There are deserts in Australia, tropical forests, beaches, and you can even go skiing! It’s hard to picture all of this packed into one place but it is, and would be incredible to see.

2. The kangaroos and other wildlife.

3. It’s a surfer’s paradise, and something I’ve always wanted to try! Australia seems as good a place as any to learn.

1. Beaches, beaches, beaches. I love islands, and I love the beach. Plop me down in the sand with a drink, and good book, and a snack and I’ll be the happiest girl in the world.

2. Fantastic coral reefs for snorkeling.

3. Another Caribbean paradise. I love the Caribbean, and I plan on visiting as many islands as I can here!

1. Aurora Borealis. The northern lights would be so amazing to see, and pictures just don’t do it justice I’m sure. I had a friend go here who loved it, but unfortunately didn’t get a chance to view the lights before she left.

2. Oslo, Norway’s capital and metropolis. Full of modern architecture, chic cafés, the best nightlife and great museums. Recently, the city’s skyline was updated and now looks more modern than ever.

3. They have really interesting rock formations. Ok, this one sounds a bit weird, I know, but I love nature (especially hiking) and the rock formations would make a cool trip. Just look up Trolltunga and Kjerag and you’ll see what I mean!

1. Green, green, green. So the sky is overcast and grey a lot- who cares? This just means that the vegetation in Ireland is a gorgeous, bright green that I definitely don’t see back home.

2. I’m a 1/4 Irish, and like France, would love to follow up on my heritage and just explore where some of my family is from.

3. The castles. I love castles and would love the chance to visit some in Ireland, ruined and still standing. Makes for incredible photographs!

1. The Swiss alps. Those mountains. That view. The rolling green hills. Picture perfect!

2. The waterfalls are some of the best and highest in Europe.

1. The amazing coffee and espresso is some of the best you’ll find in Europe, and usually cheaper.

2. Lisbon is the second oldest city in Europe, and is a trendy, bustling hot spot for stunning architecture, nightlife, and beach days.

3. The food.

1. Sweden is one of the most creative countries in the world. Art is a big part of my life, and there are many museums that I would like to visit.

2. The nature and the wildlife. You’ll find flourishing forests, wild flower fields, lakes, mountains & hills wherever you go. It’s also  very common to bump into Moose, deer, rabbits and various birds, but Sweden also has other predators like bear, wolves, lynx and wolverines.

3. The fashion (of course!) It’s easy to find clothes of great quality that are inexpensive, and Swedes are said to be some of the most fashionable people in the world.

1. The glacier tours look stunning.

2. Blue Lagoon spa. What’s not to love about crystal-blue, geothermal water that hovers between 98 and 102 degrees year-round with views of spectacular, snow-covered lava rocks in every direction?

3. The culinary adventure. So many interesting foods to try and Icelandic cuisine certainly doesn’t disappoint! Shark? Maybe…

1. The countryside looks amazing. Sprawling estates, gardens, and more, I would love to explore the countryside and see the villages old and new.

2. London. Buckingham Palace and Big Ben are just some of the monuments I would love to visit.

3. Harry Potter. Let me geek out for a second…one of my absolute favorite book series takes place in England, and London even has a Harry Potter hotel! I would love to visit some of the available sets and see props from the movies.

1. Just look at that picture. White sand, crystal clear water, and coral reefs.

2. The over-the-water bungalows with glass floors. Holy. Crap. So cool!

3. The marine life.

1. Same reason as the Maldives, Bora Bora also has overwater bungalows with glass floors and an incredible view of the marine life.

2. Seclusion. Private, romantic (and expensive) Bora Bora is a great place to getaway from everyday life and just relax.

3. The views just do not compare anywhere else. Sure, Hawaii might look similar and is also stunning, but nothing quite compares to the French Polynesian islands.

1.  The island is half French and half Dutch. The French side is known as Saint Martin, the Dutch as Sint Maarten. Yet, they are the same island! You get to experience both cultures in one. And another huge selling point for me is they still accept US currency. Sometimes its too much of a pain in the behind to convert cash!

2. The entire island is tax free, which means shopping, shopping, and more shopping! It’s also arguably one of the safest Caribbean islands to explore, so I wouldn’t be hesitant to leave the resort.

3. The views, the beaches, and the clear bottom kayaks. Makes an awesome daytime excursion! Saint Bart’s is also only a 40 minute ferry ride away and it has one of the most picturesque harbors in the world.

1. The rice terrace fields are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I could stare at them in pictures for hours! So green and so beautiful, it’s something I would love the opportunity to see in person.

2. I love Vietnamese food and would love to try it fresh and 100% authentic.

3. Breathtaking landscapes. Between the rice terraces, mountains, hills, and beaches, Vietnam has a large variety of terrain that makes exploring fun.

All of these destinations look absolutely stunning, and I can’t wait to visit each and every one of them! There are so many reasons I would love to go to these places, and if anyone has ever been before, I would love some “must-do’s” or “must-see’s”!

What’s on your bucket list?
